Are you looking to go deeper? Into yourself, into understanding, into meaning? I work with clients who are ready to nourish their mind, body, and soul. If you are seeking to stabilize your mood, find peace despite uncertainty, or gain clarity on yourself or a situation, I want to help you find your way through.
I work to help attune you to your values, your relationships, and the world around you. Attunement is our ability to be aware of, and respond to our needs. When we are attuned, we create deep, secure connections, respond instead of react, foster trust, safety, and well-being with ourselves and others. This process can be achieved through talk therapy and somatic (body based) strategies. I will reflect what I observe to help you gain awareness of automatic thoughts, reactions, and reflexes. With that information we can pause, be curious, and shift.
Experiencing trauma, in and out of relationships, can lead us to fall out of attunement with ourselves, as our protective mechanisms take over and focus on keeping us from harm. These “protectors” operate with a sense of vigilance; scanning for threats, responding with anxiety to cues from the past, keeping a safe distance from others to avoid the pain of abandonment. We can create the internal safety necessary to allow vigilance to work alongside you, instead of functioning for you, so you can go back to living fully.
We have a variety of therapeutic appraoches to lean on during our work together and I am happy to make recommendations regarding what strategies can facilitate growth for you. I frequently use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and The Gottman Method.
Throughout the last 20+ years of my career I have served clients as a therapist, and communities as a clinical and operations director in hospital and community health settings. My work as an administrator, therapist, and service leader, has lent me a unique perspective on how to navigate all types of systems; internal, family, relational, business and corporate.
